Herb Maretz, President & CEO

Herb provides the strategic direction for Pentre as well as overseeing the execution of all projects and work functions. In addition to providing oversight and guidance to the team, he plays an active role in mentoring the next generation of construction professionals. He has been involved in all types of projects including commercial, institutional, heavy civil, as well as multi-residential. 

Herb began his career in construction as a young boy working in his father’s steel shop. In addition to learning trade skills at an early age, he also learned the value of a strong work ethic, the importance of integrity, and an attitude of life-long learning. Herb has blended his formal education and trade background into 40 years of experience in the construction industry. 

Deniz Ozgur, Senior Project Manager & Team Leader

Deniz brings a wealth of construction experience to Pentre Construction Group. He has worked overseas for several years completing extremely challenging and demanding projects with world famous designers. Deniz is a key team leader and is actively involved in the early stages of every project. He is conscientious and thorough in his work which is critical for the delivery of project objectives.

Deniz’ formal education is as a certified Architect but his strong project management skills and practical construction knowledge have shaped Deniz into a talented leader. He possesses over 25 years of construction experience in many varied projects, which allow him to anticipate and offer insights to potential challenges.

David Sarai, Director

David began his business career from humble beginnings in Punjab, India. He credits his grandfather for teaching him many life lessons as well as the value of hard work, integrity, and an entrepreneurial spirit. David put these values to work immediately upon immigrating to Canada.

David is a successful entrepreneur with several decades of experience in the construction industry. He is the owner of the New York Group of Companies, and runs many successful businesses that he built from the ground up. This group of companies includes New York Painting & Coating Ltd., which has grown into one of the largest painting contractors in the Lower mainland. He also launched a paint supply and distribution venture that fits neatly into his supply chain. David also owns a property development company and coupled with his dynamic attitude, David brings a rich blend of experience, insight, and enthusiasm to the Pentre team.  

Dave Khera, Director

Dave’s early experience in the construction field in Canada provided him with valuable hands-on experience in forming, framing, and plumbing. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to start his own successful construction and real estate enterprise, where he built single and multi-family homes.

Over the course of the next 36 years, Dave founded Proridge Homes Ltd., completing numerous projects and building an extensive real estate portfolio in BC and Alberta. Throughout his career, Dave has shown a commitment to mentorship and building strong working relationships in the industry. This dedication has been instrumental in ensuring projects are completed to the satisfaction of all project stakeholders.

Dave’s diverse range of experience and dedication to quality and customer satisfaction add significant value to the Pentre Group. His focus on creating high-quality projects has earned him a reputation for reliability and excellence in the industry. His commitment to continual improvement, ongoing training, and collaboration will contribute to the success of Pentre in the marketplace.  

Gary Khera, Director

Gary’s early start in the family construction business 18 years ago has given him a unique advantage in gaining a deep understanding of the entire construction process, from acquisitions to financing, design, and project delivery. This experience has allowed him to develop a strong work ethic and a passion for the many aspects of the industry. This directly led Gary to acquire an engineering and manufacturing business related to engineered wood products.

As the acting president of A1 Trusses, Gary has taken on a leadership role that requires him to provide executive management and direction to the business. He has developed an extensive professional network, and has earned the trust of talented local and international business colleagues alike.

Gary represents the next generation of leadership for Pentre. His passion for the industry, business acumen, and approach to innovation is instrumental in keeping Pentre at the forefront of building innovations and techniques. With his leadership and guidance, Pentre is well-positioned to continue to thrive and grow in the foreseeable future.
